What is the most annoying experience you’ve had with a cluttered purse? I could name a few. If you are constantly struggling to find things in your purse and are tired of the clutter, here is how to declutter and organize your purse.
Short for time? Pin for later!

A disorganized purse can be a pain when you are fumbling through it to find your keys, Chapstick, or any of the many things you’ve thrown into it.
It is very easy to fall prey to a cluttered purse. It starts with a piece of makeup, then a receipt, and then everything else goes right into the growing clutter (might not be exactly in that order, but you get the point).
You usually will feel the repercussion when your lips are dry, and you can’t find your Chapstick, a receipt you need urgently, or your keys.
These situations could be very frustrating.
As the lady that you are, you shouldn’t be embarrassed by the thought of someone else seeing the insides of your purse. If you are, this post is definitely for you!
Here’s how to declutter your purse and keep it organized all the time.
1. Clean it out completely
The first step in organizing your purse is to empty everything out. Remove everything that is already in your purse and put them aside.
After clearing everything out, it’s important to clean your purse and air it nicely so it smells clean and fresh.
To declutter and organize your purse, you need to clean it out thoroughly.
Make sure you learn the proper way to clean your purse to avoid damaging the material.
Get rid of stains, if there are any, and use nontoxic and nice-smelling cleaning materials.
At the end of this step, you want your bag to look clean, smell nice, and look as close to new as possible. This gives you a fresh canvas when you start organizing.
2. Group into piles
Now that you have a clean purse, the next step is to group all the stuff you’ve taken out into piles that contain similar items.
Group makeup items together in one pile, receipts in one pile, toiletries in one pile, etc.
This is also the time to go through everything and decide what to keep and get rid of things that are no longer useful (like that mascara that has dried out).
Chances are that you will find some things that have run out or are expired and need to be thrown out already.
3. Use zipper pouches

Zipper pouches are a great way to keep similar items together; that way, you can reach for them quickly.
This will make your life so much easier and take away the need to clean out your purse all the time.
You can purchase a couple of zipper bags that will fit nicely into your purse and coordinate them so that each color or design is for a specific group of items, such as makeup.
This is my number one recommendation for eliminating clutter in your purse completely.
You can have a pouch for makeup, toiletries, and receipts, so whenever you need to reach for lipstick or hand lotion, you know where to look.
These pouches are easy to move from one bag to another and in no time at all whenever you want a change of bag for the day.
Also, it saves you from cleaning your bag as often as you usually would.
This multicolor mesh set is all you need. They come in different sizes, are water-proof, and are quite see-through so you know what’s inside of them.
4. Try a purse organizer insert

If you have a large purse that comes with no compartments like a lot of tote bags do, try opting for an organizer insert for your purse.
You can find many options on Amazon with different sizes, colors, and designs.
These organizers have many compartments so that you can fit everything nicely in your purse. You can easily fit your phone, tablet, wallet, keys, etc, in their own individual compartments.
These inserts are super affordable and easy to replace when they are wearing out. This can make your bag last a lot longer as you wouldn’t have to clean the interior of the bag often nor scratch the inside of it when you are constantly looking for something.

5. Save space with travel sizes
Instead of putting regular-sized cosmetic items in your purse that would take up so much space, you should opt for travel sizes.
Good thing the majority of products are sold in travel sizes; that way, it is more convenient to carry all the things you need along with you.
In the event that your favorite products are not sold in travel sizes, you can buy empty little travel containers and tubes and fill them. I love this set of reusable containers for traveling too.
6. Set a routine
Creating a routine to declutter and organize your purse regularly will go a long way in simplifying your life and keeping your purse clean and organized all the time.
This time set aside for organizing should be used to clean out your purse and replace items you have run out of.
Setting a specific time to organize your purse could lower your chances of procrastinating and help you keep your purse organized all the time.

7. Bag choice

Choosing the right bag or purse for the occasion should be the first decision you make when organizing your purse for work, an event, or daily use.
You have to consider what products you’ll be needing, how long you will be away, and how often you’ll have to reach for things.
If you’ll be away for the whole day or will be needing lots of products or gadgets, it would be reasonable to opt for a larger bag.
Also, a purse with a simple zip at the top is convenient if you’ll be reaching for items very often rather than one with a flap and several buckles.
